There’s something going on in the Maine folk scene right now, and Plague Dad is right out front on that, pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a folk musician. Matthew Charles is a kindred soul, and his powerful, starkly crafted songs avoid easy categorization.
Matthew Charles is a punk-rock troubador out of Philadelphia. He got his start playing in punk rock bands in his hometown of Cortland, NY. In 2011, he moved to Philly, where he became heavily involved in the DIY music scene and launched his solo career. He's released several albums and tours frequently. This is his first visit to Portland.
