About the event
Join us for an evening of music and merriment as we welcome the Hereafter Ensemble and poets from Portland Poet Society for the Gravity Sessions - previously a monthly collaborative art series that took place at the Apohadion Theatre here in Portland.
Prior to their time up at the mic, each spoken word artist will indicate the mood or genre of sound that relates to what they will be reading, whether that be smooth jazz, rock, country, a sultry summer evening, or storm warnings on the horizon. The Hereafter Ensemble will then begin to play as the spoken word artist reads to the audience. There will be two featured artists per session as well as a number of talented guest artists as well. Joining them will be Sharoan Cohen, a local dancer, who will be interpreting the music and poetry into her own movement.
This month's poets include G. Ferragamo, Heidi Therrien, Maria Crawford, Sarah Paton, Mary Brackett, Ainsley MacGillivray, and Eliza McCoy.
